OUR STORY

A Mission Church on the Gila River Reservation

St John the Baptist Mission was established in 1897 and is a Diocese of Phoenix Native American Ministry parish, located within the Gila River Indian Community in the village of Komatke near Laveen. The Franciscan Friars of the Holy Spirit were established in 2016 as a religious community who serve the people of the Southern Arizona reservations. St John the Baptist Mission is their home-base.
